Last week, the Academy announced that they're creating a new Oscar for "Outstanding Achievement in POPULAR FILM."

Obviously, it remains to be seen exactly how they're going to utilize the category, but "Entertainment Weekly" went back through the past decade, and took a stab at guessing which movies COULD'VE won and been nominated.

Here's what they came up with:

The 2018 Oscars:  The Oscar goes to:  "Wonder Woman" . . . and the other nominees are:  "Beauty and the Beast", "Get Out", "It", and "Spider-Man: Homecoming".  The Best Picture winner was:  "The Shape of Water".

The 2017 Oscars:  The Oscar goes to:  "Deadpool" . . . and the other nominees are:  "Captain America: Civil War", "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them", "Finding Dory", and "Mad Max: Fury Road".

The Best Picture winner was:   "Moonlight".

The 2016 Oscars:  The Oscar goes to:  "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" . . . and the other nominees are:  "Avengers: Age of Ultron", "Inside Out", "The Martian", and "Straight Outta Compton".  The Best Picture winner was:  "Spotlight".

The 2015 Oscars:  The Oscar goes to:  "Guardians of the Galaxy" . . . and the other nominees are:  "American Sniper", "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", "Gone Girl", and "The Lego Movie".  The Best Picture winner was:  "Birdman".

The 2014 Oscars:  The Oscar goes to:  "Frozen" . . . and the other nominees are:  "The Conjuring", "Gravity", "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug", and "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire".  The Best Picture winner was:  "12 Years a Slave".

The 2013 Oscars:  The Oscar goes to:  "The Dark Knight Rises" . . . and the other nominees are:  "Django Unchained", "The Hunger Games", "Marvel's The Avengers", and "Skyfall".  The Best Picture winner was:  "Argo".

The 2012 Oscars:  The Oscar goes to:  "Bridesmaids" . . . and the other nominees are:  "Captain America: The First Avenger", "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2", "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol", and "Rise of the Planet of the Apes".  The Best Picture winner was:  "The Artist".

The 2011 Oscars:  The Oscar goes to:  "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1" . . . and the other nominees are:  "Despicable Me", "How to Train Your Dragon", "Toy Story 3", and "Inception".  The Best Picture winner was:  "The King's Speech".

The 2010 Oscars:  The Oscar goes to:  "Avatar" . . . and the other nominees are:  "The Hangover", "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", and "The Twilight Saga: New Moon".  The Best Picture winner was:  "The Hurt Locker".
