The Hill and a movie I should have seen over 10 years ago!
Nick had a boys trip to Louisville for golf and Bourbon Trail Tours which meant I didn’t have much going on and I couldn’t find anyone to play golf with during one of the most beautiful weekends of the year.
Friday night I went to Anthonino’s Taverna on the Hill for dinner with some friends.
Before we were seated I spotted what looked like a really cool bar/restaurant down the street. For those of you that don’t know, Fairview Heights has a “gas station bar and restaurant” that a lot of my friends frequent. I’ve never eaten there but according to many, they have great Peruvian food. Seriously. It’s called “J. Smugs GastroPit” and it used to be an Oil Change place.
Unfortunately we had already eaten but the BBQ smelled amazing. The owners brought us out their meatballs to sample…very smoky and delish and my new fave, garbanzo beans, so good. But I still don’t like Hummus. I know, it doesn’t make sense.
It’s definitely worth a trip to the Hill. Great family business with a cool vibe. Here’s a pic of me with my friends Marti and Katie behind the bar.
Saturday was filled with stuff around the house and then I planted myself on the couch for a movie marathon. First I got sucked into Safe Haven, it was aiiight. If you’ve seen “Sleeping with the Enemy” or “Enough”, it’s basically that with a touch of ghost. After that I watched “Collateral Beauty” with Will Smith, it was cute but nothing amazing. Then I noticed “The Notebook” was on and I’ve never seen it. I know, everyone has seen it but I hadn’t. It was so good and yes, I cried.
Here’s my movie watching partner Peabo on the couch.
