Week of 5.19 – STL 20 Countdown with Paul Cook

This week on the STL 20, see which new boy band joins the countdown with their catchy pop song, and see if Kelly Clarkson can hold it together for her ninth week in a row at number one! Keep reading the STL 20 recap to find out!

Each week, Paul Cook brings you the recap of what’s been hot on the airwaves. Check out the Y98 STL 20 every Saturday morning from 8 – 10am to find out which songs were on top for the week and which artists have songs on the rise.

#20 – Kelly Clarkson – “Mr. Know It All”

Kelly Clarkson stays strong at the #20 spot this week on the STL 20 with “Mr. Know It All,” the first single from her fifth studio album, Stronger.

#19 – One Direction – “What Makes You Beautiful”

Making their STL 20 debut is the British-Irish boy band sensation, One Direction with their single “What Makes You Beautiful” from their 2011 debut studio album, Up All Night.

#18 – David Guetta ft. Usher – “Without You” 

David Guetta featuring Usher falls back two spots to #18 this week with the third single from this year’s Nothing But The Beat, “Without You.”

#17 – Andy Grammer – “Fine By Me”

After making his STL 20 debut two weeks ago, Andy Grammer jumps ahead two spots to #17 with his song “Fine By Me” from his 2011 self titled album

#16- Katy Perry- “The One That Got Away”

Katy Perry falls back one spot this week to #16 with “The One That Got Away,” the sixth single from 2010’s Teenage Dream.

#15 – Gavin DeGraw – “Not Over You”

Gavin DeGraw falls back to #15 on the countdown with “Not Over You,” the lead single from his fourth studio album Sweeter. Don’t miss Gavin at The Peabody Opera House with Colbie Caillat on June 24th!

#14 – Maroon 5 – “Payphone”

After joining the countdown last week, Maroon 5 jumps ahead in the countdown to #14 with their latest single, “Payphone” from their fourth studio album Overexposed which is due out June 26, 2012.

#13 – Bruno Mars – “It Will Rain”

Bruno Mars falls back one spot this week to #13 this week with his latest single, “It Will Rain.”

#12 – Christina Perri – “A Thousand Years”

Christina Perri slips on the countdown this week to #12 with “A Thousand Years,” the second single from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

#11 – The Wanted – “Glad You Came”

Making their way up on the countdown, The Wanted climb to #11 with their single, “Glad You Came” from their second studio album, Battleground.

#10 – Rihanna – “We Found Love”

Rihanna falls back two spots on the STL 20 countdown at #10 this week with “We Found Love,” the lead single from her sixth studio album, 2011’s Talk That Talk.

#9 – Adele – “Rumor Has It”

Adele comes in at number #9  this week jumping ahead two spots with her fourth single “Rumor Has It” from her 2010 album 21.

#8 – Jessie Jay- “Domino” 

Jessie J falls back two spots this week to #8 with her latest single “Domino” from her first studio album Who Are You.

#7 – Gotye – “Somebody That I Used To Know”

Skipping ahead two spots on the countdown to #7 is Belgium-Australian musician, Gotye with his song “Somebody That I Used To Know from his 2011 album, Making Mirrors.

#6 – Adele – “Set Fire to the Rain”

Adele slips back one to the spot #6 on the countdown with her third single”Set Fire to the Rain,” from 2010’s 21.

#5 – Jason Mraz – “I Won’t Give Up”

Jason Mraz skips jumps ahead two spots int he countdown to #5 with “I Won’t Give Up” from his upcoming fourth studio album, Love Is a Four Letter Word.

#4 – Train – “Drive By”

Train stays strong at the #4 spot this week with their song, “Drive By” from their upcoming album California 37.  Train comes to the Peabody Opera House on July 29th! Tickets go on sale Friday, April 27th!

#3 – Katy Perry- “Part Of Me”

Katy Perry falls back one spot to #3 this week with “Part Of Me” from her album Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection.

#2 – Kelly Clarkson – “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You)”

Kelly Clarkson gets bumped out of the number one spot this week, and falls back to #2 with her song, “Stronger,” released as the second single from 2011’s Stronger.

#1 – fun. – “We Are Young”

Indie pop band fun. climbs their way up to #1 this week with their hit single, “We Are Young” from their second studio album Some Nights released in February 2012.
